Phil’s coping mechanisms to tackle life after sustaining catastrophic spinal cord injuries have inadvertently inspired millions.  Completing his iconic 14-day London Marathon was one of three early physical challenges, during his recovery, to raise over £1million for wounded service personnel.

Exploring his capabilities through extreme physical challenges have allowed him to understand his own physical and psychological trauma and this has naturally led to work supporting young people who suffer adversity in their lives.

As a much sought after Ambassador, Influencer and Fundraiser, Phil engages with young people, parents and communities through registered charities, universities, colleges and schools.

He founded the British Inspiration Trust (BRIT) with an aim to build an national Centre of Inspiration for charities to refer their young people who have faced both physical and psychological trauma and assist them to regain their self-esteem, self-confidence and self-worth.  His vision (supported by over 60 charity Chief Executives and a wealth of Inspirational Figures) for BRIT is to influence businesses to build and fund the Centre so the public can continue to support the charities that will use the facility when it is built.

He has a wealth of knowledge and experience in volunteering, community engagement, fundraising and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).  As a Professional Speaker, Phil engages with audiences with an abundance of honesty, emotional intelligence and humour.  His journey is an extraordinary one and Phil continues to strive to create greater inclusion, reduce the stigma of mental health and deliver a positive influence within communities and the corporate & charity sectors.

1 mile for Phil is the equivalent of 3 to 4 miles for someone without a spinal cord injury.  In 2012 he completed the equivalent of 310 marathon distances in 331 days
